Information For Authors
Interested in submitting to this journal? We recommend that you review the About the Journal page for the journal's section policies, as well as the Author Guidelines. Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply log in and begin the five-step process.
To submit an essay, a creative work, an interview (after consulting with the Associate Editor), an essay review, or a book review (after consulting with the Book Review Editor), follow the instructions in the tab Submissions.
Given the high number of submissions we receive and process, it may take 6-9 months to receive the editorial recommendation (accept, accept with revisions, decline).
Additionally, it may take from 12 to 20 months to have a contribution published from the moment of its submission to our OJS platform. Images & Derivative Materials
It is the author/researcher’s obligation and responsibility to determine and satisfy copyright and/or other use restrictions before submitting materials to MSU Press for publication. Citations, permissions, and captions are required upon submission for all images. Use the REGS Permission Request Letter to obtain permission from an image’s rightsholder—we cannot publish such materials until written clearance is obtained. All images must be a minimum of 300 dpi (dots per inch) at the planned publication size.
Author Publishing Agreements
Authors accepted for publication must agree to the terms of the Author Publishing Agreement before the piece can be published.
