Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- You confirm that your initial submisson is a 500-word proposal for your thought piece. If your proposal is accepted, you will be provided with instructions for submitting your full-length thought piece.
- Your piece is submitted in Microsoft Word .docx format.
- Your piece follows the style guidelines outlined in the AAP Perspectives style instructions.
- Images are uploaded as supplmentary files, clearly labled as "Figure 1," "Figure 2," etc. Call-outs should be included in your manuscript to let us know where they should be placed, e.g., [Figure 1 here]. Captions should also be included in your manuscript, e.g. [Caption fig. 1: ]. While images can be embedded in the Word file we will also need them separately. Images should be 300 dpi at a minimum of 4 inches wide.
- Any images or derivative materials must be used with the permission of the rightsholder. Use of copyrighted images require a signed permission request form from the image's rightsholder.

Copyright Notice
Authors accepted for publication must agree to the terms of the Author Publishing Agreement before the piece can be published.
Copyrighted and Derivative Materials
- If accepted for publication, images should be provided as separate files at minimum 300 dpi at planned publication size (minimum width is 4 inches).
- Proof of permission to use any copyrighted images must be obtained from the image’s rightsholder by the author and provided to MSU Press prior to publication. You can download the AAPP permission request letter here.
